Well I guess I wouldn't do that unless the ';oil'; is 100% soluble in water. Otherwise it will coat the evaporative surfaces and interfere with the cooling cycle. If it's soluble and you use a lot of it, you may change the water's vapor pressure which will lower the cooling efficiency.

Can you put essential oils in an evaporative cooler?
If so, how much do you use, and do you just put it in the basin, or what? And does anyone have any scents that they LOVE?Can you put essential oils in an evaporative cooler?
